More About Leabo
Todd Leabo is Kansas City through and through. Born and raised in Independence, Missouri he spent his fair share of time attending, watching, and listening to Royals and Chiefs games as a kid. One of his prized possessions is a cup of dirt he scooped up off the pitcher’s mound after the Royals beat the Cardinals in the1985 World Series. Yes, running on the field was probably wrong, but it was fun and created a memory for a lifetime. Todd’s first job was as a food vendor at Royals and Chiefs games. He walked every step of the Truman Sports Complex hawking peanuts and watching as much of the games as he could. Todd earned a journalism degree from the University of Oklahoma. While in school he served as a sports intern at WDAF-TV in Kansas City. After graduation, Todd returned to the TV station to volunteer and eventually earn part-time work. There were some days that Todd would work as a food vendor until the 7th inning then change his clothes in the parking lot, splash on some cologne before gathering postgame sound for the TV station. Eventually, that hard work turned into a full-time job at the all-new Fox 4. Marriage and starting a family forced Todd to make a career change to get away from a hectic TV sports schedule. In 1998,Todd returned to the sports journalism game as part of the local group who launched Kansas City’s first All Sports radio station, SportsRadio 1510KCTE-AM. The group bought 810 WHB in September 1999 and the rest is history.
