The Zone:

The Zone airs live weekdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sports Radio 810 WHB Kansas City, bringing a mix of analysis, opinions and laughs — just not always in that order. From the numbers to the absurd, they have it covered with host Jason Anderson, co-host Sterling Holmes and producer Michael D’Arcy. Mick Shaffer, Todd Leabo and a variety of guests join the show throughout the week, bringing unique voices to the airwaves from Sports Radio 810 WHB.

More About Jason

Returning to his home after 9 years, Jason Anderson now hosts middays on Sports Radio 810 from 10-2. Born and raised in Kansas City, Jason graduated from Lee’s Summit North in 1999 and then Northwest Missouri State in 2004. After testing the waters outside the market in Wyoming (maybe not the best place to start the young career) he returned to KC to begin his career with WHB. Jason interned for 4 summers before working nights and weekends and eventually full time in 2007.

Covering the Chiefs, Royals and college athletics was the only thing he ever wanted to do. Then in 2010 WHB expanded outside the market to Louisville and Jason took on the task of helping build the company’s presence in Kentucky. Jason returns with a great view of how rivalries look to an outsider (which now adds perspective when he gets a little too caught up in the moment with the MU-KU rivalry) and a beautiful family. His show grew from literally zero listeners to being one of the most popular radio shows in Louisville. The station grew from the ground up eventually adding two more stations to the Louisville market. When the opportunity presented itself to come back home Jason simply couldn’t pass up the chance to live out his dream.

The dream job of hosting a show on the best sports radio station in the country, living in the best sports city in America. Jason grew up a die-hard Chiefs, Royals and Mizzou fan. He returns home with a Royals World Series, Patrick Mahomes as the Chiefs quarterback and a still empty spot on the wall in the man cave saved for Mizzou’s first Final Four. He’s confident it will happen. Somewhat confident. Jason’s show dives into the topics the fans care about. He brings knowledge, opinion and mixes them with entertainment. Teetering from serious, to absurd and everything in between. The goal is to not take ourselves too seriously, have as much fun as possible and as many laughs as they can. Even if it’s at his expense.

When not on the air Jason spends time with his family. He met his wife Caelin in Louisville and they now have two children, Everett and Juliette. Caelin is a Louisville girl through and through that is joining the Kansas City family. In perfect fashion, Everett was born 5 days after the Royals won the WS in 2015 and Juliette was born prior to the 2019 season when the Chiefs won their second Super Bowl.

More About Sterling

Sterling grew up in Leawood, Kansas and graduated from Blue Valley North High School in 2012. After high school, he attended the University of Missouri earning a Business Marketing degree with a minor in Entrepreneurship.

Sterling started his radio career very young, starting out doing small segments on the old KY morning show with Max, Tanna, and Moffitt. According to Max Floyd, who is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, no one is sure who’s idea it was to have a 6-year old on the air. From there, Sterling’s passion for sports and radio grew and he moved to Philadelphia after college to work for the Philadelphia 76ers.

After getting a better understanding of the inner workings of professional sports teams, Sterling moved back to Kansas City and started working for Union Broadcasting in 2019. Sterling started out with small segments on ESPN Kansas City before starting The Homestretch, a daily show on ESPN Kansas City as well as doing the evening show of the same name on Sports Radio 810. Now, Sterling is the co-host on The Zone with Jason Anderson from 10am-2pm on 810 WHB as he brings deep analysis and statistics, with a fun twist.

When he is not on-air or watching sports, he enjoys golfing, beer league softball, and still trying to act like Jimmer Fredette on the basketball court. Sterling also enjoys reading, bourbon, and a good cup of coffee.
