LIVE Transfer Talk: Christian Pulisic garnering interest from Liverpool, Barcelona

The summer transfer window was unlike any other; see all the major deals and check out how we graded the biggest signings. And just because the window is shut until January, that doesn't mean the rumours won't keep coming. Here's the latest gossip and speculation.

TOP STORY: Barca, Liverpool in for Pulisic

Liverpool and Barcelona could battle it out for the signature of Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic, reports El Nacional. Both sides are interested in the United States international, with the Blues said to prefer letting him move to Spain over a Premier League rival.

However, the LaLiga club are not in a financial position to make an offer currently. New boss Xavi Hernandez may be able to make offer in 2023, with a swap deal also potentially on the table, but Barca are looking solely at loans and free transfers.

Chelsea have reportedly asked for more than €50 million if they are to negotiate a move for Pulisic away from Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp knows the 23-year-old from his time in charge at Borussia Dortmund and the report claims that he was interested in the winger in 2019 but lost out to Chelsea.

Pulisic has struggled with injuries so far this season, missing the majority of the early part of the season. He picked up an ankle knock in September and with him unable to currently hold down a position in the first team, the Blues are reportedly ready to move him on if clubs match their valuation.

21.32 GMT: AC Milan have begun talks with Alessio Romagnoli over a new contract, according to Nicolo Schira.

It is reported that the two parties are €1m away in terms of salary demands, with the 26-year-old centre-back said to want around €4.5m per season. Despite delays in agreeing fresh terms, Romagnoli wants to continue his career at the San Siro, and he has remained a key part of the Milan side that has stormed into a Serie A title race.

20.59 GMT: Manchester United are expected to add Unai Emery to their manager shortlist as they continue to look for a replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to BILD.

It is reported that no contact has taken place yet between the Red Devils and the 50-year-old head coach, with the Premier League club currently enquiring with a number of candidates. Emery was recently linked with the manager's job at Newcastle United, but quickly dispelled the rumours by committing his future to Villarreal.

20.26 GMT: Barcelona have joined the race for Arthur Cabral and are in pole position for the FC Basel forward, according to Sport. The Swiss club reportedly would accept a transfer fee between €15m and €20m, after the Brazilian has scored 13 goals in 13 appearances this season.

19.53 GMT: Two clubs in the Serie A are set to battle it out for Denis Zakaria in January, with Juventus and AS Roma emerging as the two favourites in the race for the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder. Calciomercato writes that a transfer fee in the region of €7m will be required to open discussions, with the clubs looking to get a deal done before his contract expires in the summer.

19.20 GMT: The Telegraph writes that Mason Mount is happy at Chelsea and in no rush to sign a new contract. With his deal still having two and a half years to run, the Blues have been prioritising the more precarious situations of Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicueta and Thiago Silva, all of whose contracts expire this summer.

18.47 GMT: Norwich City manager Dean Smith is looking to his former club with hopes of landing Keinan Davis.

Football Insider reports that the 23-year-old striker has been identified as a target for January, with Aston Villa willing to accept a transfer fee between £2m and £4m. Davis has made just a single appearance this season as a substitute in the Villains' 1-0 defeat to Southampton.

18.14 GMT: FK Bodø/Glimt forward Erik Botheim could be in line for a move to one of Europe's top leagues, with reports that Lazio have identified the 21-year-old as a potential replacement for Vedat Muriqi. That's according to Nicolo Schira, who writes that the Serie A side have shown an interest in the front man who has scored 20 goals in 41 appearances so far this season, finding the net in all three UEFA competitions.

17.41 GMT: Fabrizio Romano reports that both Luis Enrique and Julen Lopetegui have ruled themselves out of the manager's job at Manchester United. Luis Enrique is reported to be fully focused on preparing for the 2022 World Cup with Spain, while Sevilla's Lopetegui deemed speculation linking him to Old Trafford as "absurd."

17.08 GMT: Gianluca Di Marzio writes that Paulo Dybala's new contract is awaiting just the final details before it can be announced by Juventus.

The 28-year-old attacker has been in negotiations over an extension for some time, with talks taking place throughout the summer. But after a long wait, Juve are now looking to finalise bonus agreements as well as some legal details that will see the deal become official.

16.35 GMT: When agents speak, the world of transfers listens. Erling Haaland's agent Mino Raiola and Gareth Bale's representative Jonathan Barnett have been talking to Cuatro, and they spoke a bit about their clients.

Haaland, 21, has been linked with almost every big club in Europe as his €75m release clause will come into effect in 2022 and Borussia Dortmund could be forced to let him go.

Asked whether Haaland would like to make a move to LaLiga, Raiola said: "Haaland likes Spain, he really likes his home in Spain. Afterwards, it is too early to say where he is going to play next year. It is not good either."

Real Madrid's Bale has been in Spain since 2013 when he signed for €100m from Tottenham, but the 32-year-old Wales international is unlikely to stay beyond the end of his contract next summer.

Barnett was asked if the winger was happy in Madrid and replied:: "Yes, he loves it. He lives with his family here and he loves it."

Asked whether Bale would be at Madrid next season, he said: "We have to see. Wait and see. We have to wait and see."

So actually, we haven't learned all that much.

15.28 GMT: Manchester United looked pretty similar to the side managed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer against Villarreal.

14.40 GMT: More Fenerbahce players are being linked around as defender Kim Min-jae is on the radar of Tottenham, says Fotospor.

Kim, 25, has been the subject of interest from Juventus and Bordeaux, but Spurs are ready to make an offer for the South Korea international.

Evidently a transfer fee of €25m will get a deal done, but the clubs involved aren't keen to pay more than half of that it seems.

14.06 GMT: Major League Soccer side Toronto FC has hired Bob Bradley as the team's new manager, the club announced.

Bradley joins the Canadian club after leaving LAFC, where he had served from 2017 as the team's first-ever manager.

"We are excited for Bob to get to work," Toronto FC President Bill Manning said. "We are entering an extremely important offseason and know we have a team that needs a significant makeover. Bob has experience putting teams together and in getting them to perform at a high-level. He understands the expectations and standards of TFC and is ready to take on this challenge."

Bradley added: "I want to thank Bill Manning and the board at MLSE for trusting me with this project. I have seen firsthand the passion that Toronto has for football and the way the club has connected with the city. I look forward to putting a team on the field that will make our fans and supporters proud."

13.44 GMT: Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette is yet to sign a new contract with his terms expiring in 2022, but Calciomercato claims he won't be short of offers.

Lacazette, 30, has three goals in 10 games this season but has been sidelined due to his desire to shelve talks.

The France international is being tracked by Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Newcastle, with a new club in the frame reported to be AC Milan.

12.52 GMT: Fenerbahce defender Attila Szalai is being tracked by Chelsea, according to Football Insider.

Szalai, 23, has picked up plenty of attention in recent months for his club and the Hungary national team. Chelsea are keen to bring in a new centre-back as Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicueta and Thiago Silva can all leave Stamford Bridge for free in the summer, sources telling ESPN that they may return for Sevilla's Jules Kounde in January.

Chelsea's defence is already one of the best in the Premier League, with just four goals conceded from 12 matches, but the 6-foot-4 Szalai could be a valuable addition.

12.00 GMT: Manchester United have had an initial enquiry about the immediate availability of manager Mauricio Pochettino knocked back by Paris Saint-Germain, sources have told ESPN's Rob Dawson.

United have made Pochettino their top target as their next permanent manager following the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday. The club are open to appointing Pochettino now if a deal can be struck but intermediaries tasked with assessing the 49-year-old's situation at PSG have reported back that the French side are, for now, unwilling to talk.

United believe it is likely Pochettino will only be available in the summer, unless the former Tottenham boss forces an exit. Sources have told ESPN that Pochettino would be keen on the vacancy at Old Trafford but is under contract in Paris until 2023 after signing an extension in the summer.

Sources told ESPN that PSG have made contact with former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane in the event Pochettino does return to the Premier League. Agreeing terms with Zidane would impact when, and if, Pochettino is allowed to leave PSG.

11.33 GMT: Borussia Dortmund midfielder Axel Witsel is on the radar of Newcastle, says Sport1.

Witsel, 32, has slipped down the pecking order at Dortmund and his contract expires at the end of the season so a number of teams are looking to land him for free.

The Belgium international is open to a move to the Premier League and Newcastle are keen to improve their squad as they battle relegation after their £305m takeover by a Saudi-backed consortium.

11.00 GMT: Barcelona could miss out on the Champions League knockout rounds after failing to beat Benfica.

10.23 GMT: Chelsea duo Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner have emerged as alternatives to Manchester City's Raheem Sterling for Barcelona in January, sources have confirmed to ESPN.

Barca's ability to make any signings mid-season will be dependent on them being able to free up some money, so they are scouring the market for players that could arrive on loan at first.

Sources told ESPN the club will target players that are not playing regularly elsewhere. They are prepared to include an option to make any deal permanent but don't want it to be obligatory.

Barca explored the option of signing Sterling last summer and would be keen to revisit the option in January. However, the cost of any operation and City's reluctance to let the England forward leave without an obligation for Barca to buy next summer makes any deal complicated.

Ziyech and Werner, therefore, have emerged as alternatives. The competition for places at Chelsea has seen them pushed to the fringes of Thomas Tuchel's plans. Sources have told ESPN that Barca have asked about the availability of both players.

09.45 GMT: Olympiakos wonderkid Aguibou Camara has caught the eye of Liverpool, Leicester and Newcastle, says The Sun.

Camara, 20, has five goals and two assists in 17 appearances since he made the move from Lille in the summer and has impressed with his performances.

The Guinea international midfielder could move to the Premier League in the coming months, but his transfer is likely to cost around €25m.

09.17 GMT: Barcelona are focusing on recovering their injured players and not on potential winter reinforcements, says club football director Mateu Alemany.

Barca's team have been plagued by injuries this season. Speaking after Tuesday's 0-0 draw against Benfica in the Champions League, Alemany said: "We need to be optimistic and hope that all our injured players return as soon as possible. It's a merit that we are holding out considering the number of injured forwards we have with [Sergio] Aguero, Ansu [Fati], [Ousmane] Dembele and [Martin] Braithwaite. We have recovered Dembele and we hope to soon have back Ansu. A reinforcement in January? Our thoughts right now are to recover our players."

08.53 GMT: Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe wants to make Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier one of his first signings for the club in the January transfer window, the Daily Mirror reports.

Trippier, 31, had been a target for Manchester United in the summer, but now Newcastle could be the England international's next destination if Newcastle are willing to pay the £30m transfer fee that Atletico are after.

Since leaving Tottenahm Hotspur in 2019, Trippier has settled well in Madrid and helped them become LaLiga champions last season.

08.00 GMT: Manchester United have held discussions with former Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde about the possibility of becoming interim manager, sources have told ESPN's Rob Dawson.

United began their search for a short-term appointment to take the team until the end of the season on Sunday after dismissing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Valverde, who led Barca to LaLiga titles in 2018 and 2019 before leaving in January 2020, is one of the names in the frame along with former Borussia Dortmund manager Lucien Favre and ex-RB Leipzig coach Ralf Rangnick.

Rangnick, now working at Lokomotiv Moscow, has privately distanced himself from the job, but initial talks have been held with Valverde.

After Solskjaer's departure, Michael Carrick was put in charge temporarily, and despite his winning his first game 2-0 against Villarreal on Tuesday, sources have told ESPN that the club remain committed to bringing in someone else between now and the summer.

Sources have told ESPN that Mauricio Pochettino is United's top target as the club's next permanent appointment, but the former Tottenham Hotspur boss is under contract with Paris Saint-Germain until 2023 after signing an extension in the summer.
