LIVE Transfer Talk: Liverpool's Mohamed Salah wants big pay raise to stay at Anfield

The summer transfer window is closed for the top leagues in Europe! After a summer full of international football, countless clubs waited until the last minute to pull off their transfers. See all the major deals here and check out how we graded the biggest signings. But just because the window is shut until January, that doesn't mean the rumours won't keep coming.

TOP STORY: Salah wants new £500,000-a-week contract

The Sunday Mirror reports that Mohamed Salah is looking for a bumper pay rise, putting him on £500,000-a-week, if he is to put pen to paper on a new deal with Liverpool.

The 29-year-old has two years remaining on his current deal, which is worth £200,000-a-week, and after 99 Premier League goals, the Egypt international wants terms that better reflect his contribution on the pitch.

Jurgen Klopp's side have handed out a number of contract extensions over the summer, after Ibrahima Konate turned out to be the club's only signing of the transfer window, but the terms Salah is reported to want would fall outside of the club's wage structure.

Salah is the second highest-earner along with Thiago Alcantara, but behind Virgil van Dijk who earns £220,000-a-week. And with the forward proving to be an indispensable star since arriving at Anfield in 2017, the negotiations could get tough with the Reds knowing they won't want Salah to move into the last year of his deal.

21.30 BST: Roma are interested in signing Zenit St. Petersburg forward Sardar Azmoun next summer, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper claims that Jose Mourinho is keen to replace Borja Mayoral when he returns from his loan spell to Real Madrid at the end of the season.

The club's general manager Tiago Pinto has reportedly set his sights on future signings and Roma could make a move for Azmoun, who has started the campaign with six goals in seven matches.

20.45 BST: Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo has reported that Paris Saint-Germain's deal to sign Neymar from Barcelona came close to €500m.

The Brazil international joined the French giants in 2017 for a world-record fee of €222m but the report claims the entire operation cost exactly €489,228,117.

Neymar reportedly earned an annual salary of €43,340,400 each season in France which comes to €216,702,000 in total. If a sixth season was to be triggered, it would have cost the Ligue 1 club €50,556,117.

19.05 BST: Junior Messias is not messing about after joining AC Milan. The 30-year-old Brazilian, who signed from Crotone this summer, has identified the Serie A title as a target and cited Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the inspiration to lead the Rossoneri.

"Wearing this shirt repays me for all the sacrifices I have made," he told La Repubblica. "The management and the fans have trusted me, now I will have to let the pitch speak.

"Ibra is an example to follow, we will try to win the championship"

18.20 BST: Real Madrid missed out on signing Kylian Mbappe this summer and Karim Benzema has admitted he is disappointed not to link up with his France teammate in LaLiga.

However, it is not all bad news as Benzema remains confident that Mbappe will end up playing alongside him in Madrid before too long.

"I wish he could come to Madrid this year," Benzema told Telefoot. "But one day or another he will be at Real."

17.30 BST: Arsenal beat Chelsea 3-2 in their FA Women's Super League opener on Sunday, and they will soon be boosted by a sprinkling of USWNT magic in the form of Tobin Heath

16.27 BST: Marca reckons that it will cost Real Madrid a huge sum to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain next season... as a free agent.

Mbappe, 22, has already turned down six contract offers to extend his PSG contract, which expires on June 30, 2022. Real Madrid, who failed with two transfer offers -- the second worth €200m -- as the deadline approached last month, will be able to enter into talks over a precontract agreement as of Jan. 1... but it won't come cheap.

Marca reports that Mbappe and his representatives will demand an enormous signing on fee of €80m to get their man.

15.40 BST: Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has confirmed that Franck Ribery will arrive in Salerno on Monday to sign for Salernitana. Ribery, 38, has been a free agent since his Fiorentina contract expired in the summer.

The former France midfielder is currently in Monaco with his family, and will fly to Italy and land at 9.30 a.m. in the morning. Ribery could then be presented to the fans on Monday afternoon.

14.51 BST: In case you missed it yesterday, Romeo Beckham, son of global superstar and Inter Miami CF co-owner David Beckham, has signed with Fort Lauderdale CF, the sister club of Miami that competes in League One of the United Soccer League.

The teenager was an unused substitute in Saturday's 0-0 draw with Chattanooga Red Wolves SC.

14.00 BST: Lyon midfielder Rayan Cherki has stated an ambition probably held by a fair few players: he wants to play for Real Madrid. Cherki, 18, is a France youth international and has been on the radar of Europe's biggest clubs for some time.

"The perfect path would be to make history with Lyon and then make it with other clubs," he told Onze Mondial. "We all know the club of my dreams is Real Madrid. To join the biggest club the world would be great.

"That is the perfect route and the one I have in mind. Every morning I wake up for that and to go on and fulfil my dreams."

13.18 BST: The Sun on Sunday reports that Arsenal are in danger of losing young striker Eddie Nketiah for nothing after failing to find a club willing to sign him in the summer window. Nketiah, 22, can open talks with clubs outside of England as of Jan. 1, with his contract due to expire at the end of the season. He can sign a precontract agreement to move on a free transfer, activated on July 1.

The report says that Arsenal wanted a transfer fee of £20m at the start of the summer, which dropped to £12m by the end of the window. But they could be left empty handed.

He was linked with Crystal Palace as the window closed but a deal could not be agreed.

Arsenal would still be due significant compensation if the striker joins another Premier League club at the end of his contract, as he will still be under the age of 24 when Bosman free transfers start to apply.

12.30 BST: The Star on Sunday has an exclusive that Manchester City turned down the chance to sign Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid before he joined Chelsea on loan on deadline day. Saul, 25, had fallen out of favour under Diego Simeone and his loan move to Stamford Bridge enabled Atletico to bring back Antoine Griezmann from Barcelona.

The report says that Atletico tried to sign Bernardo Silva from City, and use Saul as a makeweight in the deal. However, City were only interested in a £40m straight transfer for Silva, which the Spanish champions couldn't afford. That left the way clear for Chelsea to make their move.

11.42 BST: Jerome Boateng has told Sport1 how former Bayern Munich teammate Franck Ribery helped to persuade him to join Lyon. Boateng, who celebrated his 33rd birthday on Friday, opted to join the Ligue 1 club on a two-year contract after being a free agent since his contract at Bayern expired in the summer.

"I wasn't anxious at the idea of finding a new club. Instead, I asked myself: which club should I choose? I always told myself that I would wait for the right intuition," the defender said. "That's the case with Lyon. I like the club, the project.

"[Ribery] wrote me a message saying that Lyon was a great club in France, he's happy for me."

11.00 BST: Marca reports that the deal to take Eduardo Camavinga to Real Madrid from Stade Rennes was not a last-minute deadline-day arrangement, and Los Blancos had been tracking the midfielder for three years.

Camavinga, 18, moved to the Bernabeu on Tuesday in a deal worth up to €40m.

Marca says that Real Madrid first spotted Camavinga playing in a youth tournament for Rennes in 2018 and had monitored his progress ever since.

10.14 BST: Football Insider reports that defender Cameron Carter-Vickers turned down a move to Torino on deadline day in favour of joining Celtic

Carter-Vickers, 23, had been linked with a move away from Tottenham throughout the summer, but it looked like he would stay as the hours ticked down on the window.

The report states that Spurs eventually accepted loan offers from Serie A side Torino and Celtic, but Carter-Vickers decided to move to Scotland after former Spurs goalkeeper Joe Hart, now at Parkhead, persuaded him to it would be the right choice.

09.30 BST: The Star on Sunday reports that Aston Villa plan to make a move for United States star Weston McKennie when the transfer window reopens in January.

McKennie, 23, spent last season on loan at Juventus from Schalke before it automatically turned into a permanent move in the summer. But the Serie A club made the midfielder available for transfer last month, without any club showing firm interest. But the report states that Villa are now preparing to bring him to the Premier League.

PAPER GOSSIP

- Inter Milan are preparing for life without Samir Handanovic, with the Italian Serie A 2020-21 champions eyeing a move for Andre Onana. Calciomercato writes that the Ajax goalkeeper has been identified as a replacement on a free transfer, with the 25-year-old's contract set to expire next summer. The Cameroon international will return to action in November after serving a suspension for doping.

- Rafinha has been linked with a number of clubs over the summer but now looks set to stay with Paris Saint-Germain, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Italian journalist says that there is no contact between Fenerbahce and the Brazilian's representatives, with the 28-year-old remaining in Ligue 1 until January.

- Steven N'zonzi's next move has been decided with the former Premier League midfielder arriving in Doha to sign with Al-Raheeb. That's according to Qatari outlet Stad Doha, which exclusively reported the news on Saturday. The France international star spent last season with Rennes where he made 34 league appearances.

- Phil Foden will extend his stay at Manchester City with new terms that see his wages quadrupled, according to the Daily Star. The report claims that the 21-year-old will be offered a six-year contract with wages of £150,000-a-week. The new deal comes as a reward after Foden's impressive performances since making his debut in 2017 with consistent form that saw him named as the Premier League's young player of the year last season.

- Fernando Llorente has been offered to Inter as an alternative to Eden Dzeko, writes Calciomercato. The 36-year-old is currently a free agent after a two-year spell in Serie A saw the former Juventus star score four times in spells with Napoli and Udinese. It is reported that the forward is keen to stay in Serie A to continue his career where he can still add value in the right system.
