TOP STORY: Liverpool look to sign Gavi from Barca
Barcelona are in danger of losing Gavi, with Liverpool prepared to activate his reported release clause of €50 million, according to El Nacional.
It is reported that a number of Barcelona players have decided to put contract talks on hold after their 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich caused a shock exit from the Champions League and, as the January transfer window edges closer, the Blaugrana could face a fight to keep hold of the 17-year-old prospect.
Jurgen Klopp has escalated Liverpool's interest in Gavi after learning that club owners Fenway Sports Group would be prepared to sanction a move "without thinking" for the midfielder.
The Reds' €40m signing of centre-back Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig was their only senior move in the summer and they need midfield depth after the exit of Georginio Wijnaldum to PSG. However Gavi also has Manchester United and PSG on his trail if he doesn't pen new terms at Camp Nou.

21.00 GMT: Inter are convinced they can find an agreement over the contract renewal of midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The Croatia international is a free agent after this season and has been linked with several other clubs, but the Nerazzurri are confident of reaching a deal this month.
20.30 GMT: Despite a lack of game time, Leandro Paredes plans to stay at PSG, reports Fabrizio Romano on the latest Here We Go podcast.
The midfielder moved to Paris from Zenit St Petersburg in 2019, but has only made six appearances in Ligue 1 this season. His current deal runs out in 2023, but Romano claims there are talks over an extension.
20.00 GMT: Jose Mourinho is interested in signing several players to bolster his Roma squad in January, says Gazzetta dello Sport.
The club sit seventh in Serie A, despite spending large in the summer window, and are being linked with Max Aarons of Norwich, Bayern Munich's Corentin Tolisso and Florian Grillitsch of Hoffenheim.
19.30 GMT: Arsenal representatives are set to fly to Italy to discuss a move for Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski, says La Repubblica.
The Sweden international has reportedly been on the Gunners' shortlist and the Serie A club is willing to move him on due to a lack of game time. The 21-year-old is valued at €40m
19.00 GMT: Meanwhile, Milan's interest in Rafael Leao's international teammate Joao Palhinha might be thwarted.
PSG are also said to be keen on the 26-year-old midfielder, but Calciomercato reports that Sporting are set to extend his contract with a deal that runs until until 2026 and has a release clause of €60m.
18.30 GMT: AC Milan are looking to finalise a contract extension for Rafael Leao to ward off potential interest from Manchester City.
Calciomercato claims that Pep Guardiola could be interested in the 22-year-old, but the Rossoneri want to extend the Portuguese international's deal and increase his salary to keep him with the Serie A club.
18.00 GMT: Arsenal are willing to increase their offer for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, according to Italian outlet SportMediaSet.
The report claims the Gunners are determined to land the 21-year-old in January and adds that they will offer €80m in an attempt to sign the forward.
17.30 GMT: Juventus are looking to move on midfielder Arthur in January, says Calciomercato.
The Bianconeri are willing to let the 25-year-old go as part of a midfield shake-up under new boss Massimiliano Allegri and there has been interest from Sevilla and Lazio in a potential permanent or loan deal.
17.00 GMT: Michail Antonio is set to extend his contract with West Ham until 2024, reports journalist Nicolo Schira.
The 31-year-old's current deal runs until 2023, but there is believed to be a clause that will allow the forward to stay on at the London Stadium for an extra year on top of that.
15.56 GMT: Out-of-favour Tottenham winger Steven Bergwijn, has made two substitute appearance totalling 13 minutes since Antonio Conte replaced Nuno Espirito Santo as manager last month, is wanted by Ajax, sources told ESPN.
Sources claim the relationship between players and manager is strained and Ajax are exploring the possibility of a loan move in January, or even a permanent transfer for the 24-year-old.
15.32 GMT: There is no chance of Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba relocating to the German Bundesliga, his agent Mino Raiola has told Sport1.
Raiola said a move to Germany for Pogba, who earns a reported £300,000-a-week, would not be possible, adding: "They cannot and do not want to pay these high salaries."
Pogba, 28, has been linked with a number of European clubs, notably Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain and a return to Juventus. His existing contract expires at the end of the season and sources previously told ESPN that United are prepared for him to leave for free in 2022.
15.14 GMT: Mikel Arteta has revealed Arsenal's contract stand-off with striker Eddie Nketiah is due to a lack of playing time rather than any financial demands.
Nketiah's existing agreement expires at the end of the season and sources have told ESPN that the 22-year-old turned down the club's latest offer earlier this month. The striker is yet to start a Premier League game this season but was brought on ahead of club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in Monday's 2-1 defeat at Everton, a game in which Nketiah missed a glorious chance from inside the six-yard box.
Asked about the situation by ESPN at Friday's prematch news conference ahead of Southampton's Premier League visit to Emirates Stadium this weekend, Arteta said: "Eddie has six months left in his contract and we are having discussions with him and the agent to try to find the best possible way. Eddie knows how much I rate him, and I like him -- and I would like him to stay at the club.
"He's our player, and he's someone that we raised. He has the Arsenal DNA in is blood, and he loves the club so much. His reason is that he wants to play more football, and that's a genuine reason, it's nothing to do with anything else. He wants more minutes, and he feels he is able to contribute much more, and that's why I like him.
"[It is] very difficult [to guarantee playing time]. But I understand that Eddie is at that period in his career when after a long spell [out], after coming back, and then being in and out of the team -- that he feels that that's the case. But at the same time I have a strong feeling with him that he can really help the team."
14.55 GMT: As part of the club's efforts to strengthen the left-back position, sources told ESPN that Manchester City have watched Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares, who has impressed in his first season at the Emirates Stadium.
The Portugal under-21 international has emerged as a contender for Kieran Tierney's place since his £8m move to Arsenal from Benfica last summer, and while sources added City are unlikely to make a move in January, the 21-year-old remains a player of interest.
City have one recognised senior left-back at the club in Oleksandr Zinchenko, although former Juventus defender Joao Cancelo has performed that role with distinction in recent months. France international Benjamin Mendy has been suspended by the club.
14.04 GMT: Chelsea's Antonio Rudiger could become the best-paid defender in the world if he departs on a free transfer in summer 2022, says The Daily Mail.
Rudiger, 28, has Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich on his trail as he has yet to agree a new contract at Stamford Bridge.
It seems likely that the Germany international will move on and could overtake Juventus star Matthijs de Ligt in the pay charts if he pens terms of around €450,000-a-week with a new club.
13.15 GMT: Ralf Rangnick has some BIG plans for Manchester United.
12.39 GMT: Anthony Martial's agent says the forward wants to leave Manchester United in the January transfer window.
Martial, 26, has started only twice in the Premier League this season and has three years left on his contract, though it has the option of another year.
"Anthony wishes to leave the club in January," Philippe Lamboley told Sky Sports News. "He just needs to play. He doesn't want to stay in January and I will speak to the club soon."
12.22 GMT: There is a "big chance" Erling Haaland will leave Borussia Dortmund next summer, with Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City all potential destinations, the striker's agent Mino Raiola has said.
Haaland, who has scored 51 Bundesliga goals in 51 appearances since joining Dortmund in December 2019, reportedly has a release clause in his contract set at €75 million that becomes active at the end of the season.
Sources have told ESPN that Haaland is Manchester United's top transfer target next summer, although interim manager Ralf Rangnick has identified improving the club's midfield as a key area of concern. The 21-year-old's representatives held talks with Europe's top clubs last year and the battle to sign the Norway international is set to intensify once the summer transfer window opens.
"He [Haaland] can and will take the next step," Raiola told Sport 1. "Bayern, Real, Barcelona, City -- these are the big clubs he can join. When we moved to Dortmund, we all knew that this step would come. Maybe this summer, maybe the summer after. But there is a big chance that Erling will leave this summer."
11.38 GMT: Donny van de Beek's Manchester United future remains uncertain, despite the arrival of interim manager Ralf Rangnick, but sources told ESPN's Mark Ogden that Everton's long-standing interest in the player ended when Marcel Brands left his post as director of football at Goodison Park.
Brands, who joined Everton from PSV Eindhoven in June 2018, was close to negotiating a deal to take the former Ajax midfielder on loan at the start of this season, but United senior figures were reluctant to sanction the departure of a player who had cost an initial £35m when signing from Ajax in August 2020.
11.11 GMT: El Nacional claims that Chelsea are targeting a move for Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro.
Casemiro, 29, is viewed as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world but the Brazil international may be keen for a new challenge.

10.50 GMT: Chelsea have a number of defenders with expiring contracts, so what will they do?
10.09 GMT: Barcelona have announced they have reached a preliminary agreement with Granada CF to loan Alex Collado for the remainder of the season.
Collado, 21, hasn't featured for Barca this season and wants to leave in search of playing time. The attacking midfielder came through Barca's youth teams and has played for the reserves since 2018, while he has a contract until June 2023.
The Spaniard made his first-team debut in 2019 but has failed to establish himself in the senior squad.
09.47 GMT: Barcelona and Manchester City are finding common ground on Ferran Torres' potential arrival at Camp Nou, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Spain international is Barca's main target in the January transfer window and City want €60m for the move, while Barca are offering €45m.
There is reportedly optimism at Barca, and within the player's entourage, that the gap can be reduced and that an understanding can be found for the deal to be completed in January.
Barca coach Xavi has reiterated since his return to the club last month that his priority is to sign a forward and among his preferred choices is Torres and RB Leipzig's Dani Olmo. However, Barca have opted to put all their efforts into signing Torres, who would like to join the Catalan outfit.
09.14 GMT: Chelsea players and staff fear Cesar Azpilicueta will leave the club on a free transfer, with Barcelona leading the race for his signature, sources told ESPN's James Olley.
The 32-year-old's deal expires at the end of the season and, while the club were relaxed about the prospect of his deal running down given his longstanding loyalty to the club, talks have not progressed.
Sources claim one key issue outstanding is the length of contract Azpilicueta is seeking. He is free to negotiate directly with other clubs from next month; Barcelona have been tracking him, while Atletico Madrid are said to view him as a replacement for Kieran Trippier, who has been linked with a move back to the Premier League.
08.30 GMT: Ralf Rangnick identified Manchester United's midfield as an area of weakness in his interview with club bosses and suggested players of interest before being offered the job as interim manager, sources told ESPN's Rob Dawson.
Rangnick impressed during discussions with football director John Murtough, technical director Darren Fletcher and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward as United searched for a temporary boss to take over following the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Sources told ESPN that he explained why the club should look to invest in midfield and suggested scouts take a closer look at RB Leipzig's Amadou Haidara, also identifying Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham and Leeds United's Kalvin Phillips as potential midfield targets. Meanwhile, Bellingham's Dortmund teammate Erling Haaland, a long term United target, was also mentioned by Rangnick ahead of what is likely to be a Europe-wide battle for the player's signature in the summer.

- Manchester United could be prepared to let Marcus Rashford leave Old Trafford amid interest from Barcelona. That's according to El Nacional, which writes that club president Joan Laporta is keen on a move for the 24-year-old forward who has struggled for regular game time as a striker in a competition with Cristiano Ronaldo. And while the Blaugrana would like to do a deal, the Premier League club are looking for around €70m to part ways with him.
- Conor Gallagher expects to remain at Selhurst Park over January despite talk of a potential recall to Chelsea. Football London reveals that the 21-year-old midfielder will stay at Crystal Palace, with Patrick Vieira's side currently dealing with an injury crisis in midfield. The on-loan star has been in impressive form this season, contributing to seven goals in 13 starts.
- The Athletic reveals that Inter Miami's Lewis Morgan is headed to the New York Red Bulls, with a $1.2m deal already agreed after the MLS Cup final which takes place on Saturday between Portland Timbers and New York City FC. The 25-year-old midfielder scored twice in 34 appearances for Inter this season.
- Nicolo Schira writes that Samu Castillejo could leave the San Siro in January, with Genoa interested in his signature. The 26-year-old was linked with an exit back in the summer, but it now looks as though AC Milan are considering letting him go again after making just a single start in Serie A this season.
- Julian Alvarez has attracted plenty of suitors of late, and now Sport Italia TV reports that Barcelona have contacted his representatives over a potential deal. The 21-year-old River Plate striker's goal scoring form has seen a queue emerge in Europe's top leagues, with early interest in the Serie A now facing competition from Barca. And it's not hard to see why, with Alvarez contributing to 23 goals in 17 starts.
