Phil Hellmuth won his record-extending 16th career World Series of Poker bracelet Sunday in Las Vegas, taking home an $84,951 first-place prize in the $1,500 no-limit 2-7 lowball draw event.

Hellmuth defeated Jake Schwartz heads up to secure the victory. It was Hellmuth's first WSOP win since a $5,000 no-limit hold'em event in 2018, and now puts him six WSOP victories ahead of fellow poker legends Phil Ivey, Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan, who each have 10 WSOP bracelets.

According to the WSOP, it was Hellmuth's 70th career WSOP final table appearance -- also a record -- and his fourth such deep run since the start of the 2021 WSOP in late September.

Hellmuth, 57, also finished sixth in a $25,000 HORSE tournament, fifth in a $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better championship and fourth in a $10,000 Seven-card Stud Championship.

Hellmuth now sits in second place in the 2021 WSOP Player of the Year race, just behind Anthony Zinno, who won the aforementioned seven-card stud championship and immediately followed that up by winning a second 2021 WSOP bracelet in a recent $1,500 HORSE tournament.
