LIVE Transfer Talk: Harry Kane to stay at Spurs after Antonio Conte appointment

The summer transfer window was unlike any other; see all the major deals and check out how we graded the biggest signings. And just because the window is shut until January, that doesn't mean the rumours won't keep coming. Here is the latest gossip and speculation.

TOP STORY: Kane to stay at Spurs after Conte appointment

Tottenham's appointment of manager Antonio Conte will be enough to persuade striker Harry Kane to stay at the club long-term, says The Sun.

Kane, 28, informed Spurs of his desire to leave in May and was linked with a move to Manchester City. However, no club offered the £150 million fee required by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and though Kane was angry because he believed a verbal agreement to allow him to leave had been broken, the England captain performed a U-turn and insisted he would be staying "this summer."

The reading of that statement was very much that Kane would try and move on in 2022, despite his contract ending in 2024, but now he seems content to stay under Conte's leadership.

Tottenham will reportedly be handed £150m to bring in some new players over the coming months and Kane is delighted that Conte was brought in following Nuno Espirito Santo's sacking. However, the true test of the striker's loyalty will come in Spurs' ability to challenge for the top four of the Premier League.

21.41 GMT: Bild reveals that Niklas Sule is open to a move to Newcastle United.

The 26-year-old centre-back is reportedly interested in the project at St. James' Park, with contact being made between his representatives and the Premier League club in recent weeks. His contract is set to expire in the summer, which could see the Magpies make an approach as early as the January transfer window.

21.02 GMT: Denis Zakaria has been linked with a move to AS Roma, but Calciomercato now reports that he is tempted by a potential move to the Premier League. The 24-year-old midfielder looks set to leave Borussia Monchengladbach when his contract expires at the end of the season, and despite Roma being linked most strongly, he could wait to see whether an official move is made from England's top flight.

20.33 GMT: Real Madrid are preparing a move for Fabio Carvalho, writes Ekrem Konur. The 19-year-old attacker recently rejected a new contract proposal at Craven Cottage, which has seen the Championship club resigned to lose him next summer, and now the LaLiga side are ready to make their move for the star who has been on their radar since the start of the season.

19.54 GMT: Barcelona are continuing to plan for the future with the club looking to offer Ronald Araujo a new contract.

Nicolo Schira writes that the 22-year-old centre-back is in advanced talks with the Blaugrana over a five-year extension at Camp Nou. He has made 10 appearances so far this season, with Barca looking to develop him as a star for the future.

19.15 GMT: Borussia Dortmund director Michael Zorc has assured BVB fans that Jude Bellingham will be staying with the club.

Speaking to BILD, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Zorc said: "Bellingham made a conscious decision in favour of Borussia and the concept that we presented to him. His development in Dortmund is far from over. His head is very clear."

The 18-year-old England midfielder has recently been linked with Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool.

18.36 GMT: Pedro Porro joined Manchester City in August 2019, but he is now set to join Sporting on a permanent basis after not making a single appearance for Pep Guardiola's side.

That's according to the Star, which reports that the Portuguese club will activate the option to make the loan deal permanent for a transfer fee of £7m, though the Premier League champions have included a buyback clause set at for £17m. The 22-year-old full-back has become a key player for the Leos, contributing to three goals in six starts.

17.57 GMT: Football London reveals that Arsenal are set to trigger the one-year option clause to reward Daniel Ballard with an extension to his terms.

The 22-year-old centre-back is a Northern Ireland international and has been in impressive form while on loan at Millwall this season, helping the Championship club into playoff contention with 15 appearances. His new agreement will see him tied to the north London club until the summer of 2023.

17.18 GMT: Harry Kane is set to make a U-turn on his plans to leave Tottenham Hotspur, according to the Sun.

It is reported that the appointment of Antonio Conte has rejuvenated the 28-year-old striker's commitment to Spurs, with hopes that the new manager can transform and bring success to the club. Kane has scored just one Premier League goal so far this season.

16.39 GMT: Football Insider reveals that Newcastle United are in advanced talks with former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe.

With Unai Emery rejecting their advances, the board have now switched their focus to the 43-year-old who left the Cherries in August 2020. And if an agreement can be reached, Howe could be appointed in time for the Magpies' Premier League clash at Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

16.00 GMT: Ousmane Dembele's contract at Barcelona expires in the summer, but the club are hopeful of getting him to pen new terms, says Mundo Deportivo.

Dembele, 24, has struggled with injury since his €105m move from Dortmund in 2017 but Barca want him to stay regardless who their new manager ends up being.

The club want to have talks finalised by the end of November, giving him a deal until 2024 with the option to extend by a further year.

15.10 GMT: Vinicius Jr.'s phenomenal form at Real Madrid proves his decision to reject Barcelona was the right one, writes Graham Hunter.

When the general criticism of Vinicius Jr. was at its most misplaced, most impatient, the main theme was about his decision-making. It turns out that not only were those myopic opinions completely wrong about what this clever, explosive Brazilian was capable of on the pitch, they'd completely ignored what a fantastic decision he made, aged just 16, when he opted to sign for Real Madrid and reject Barcelona.

What a brutal choice for a young lad from Rio de Janeiro: to try to emulate Ronaldinho and Neymar, or Roberto Carlos and Casemiro? To go play with Lionel Messi or join a club in the midst of a Champions League three-peat?

My point is that Vinicius was the player they all wanted. Spain's two biggest clubs were fighting tooth and nail to win his loyalty. But he got his decision spot on: he gave evidence, right then, that however raw he might be, however much people's initial impressions of him were hampered by how he sounds or looks (not exactly cosmopolitan, and very youthful), he had gumption to go with his playing genius. Back to that in a second or two.

Right now, Vinicius is the darling of Los Blancos' affections. He continues to produce goal and assist numbers that either compare favourably with, or beat, Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at the same age. He's propelling his team forward in both LaLiga and the Champions League and, what's more, he's in line for an improved contract, better wages and an untouchable buyout clause.

Vinicius hasn't merely had a powerful start to the season -- capped by spells of absolute magnificence against Shakhtar Donetsk in Kiev, Barcelona in the Camp Nou Clasico and then two sublime goals at Elche -- he's scoring and playing with more authority and regularity than at any time in his senior career. He's occupied 12 of the past 24 covers of either Diario Marca or Diario AS, which, combined, reach many tens of millions of readers across that 12-day spell. That's Messi and Ronaldo territory.

14.41 GMT: Antonio Conte is happy to be back in the Premier League again.

13.49 GMT: Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has caught the eye of Barcelona, says Sport.

Ndombele, 24, has had a mixed time at Tottenham since arriving for a club record fee of €62m in 2019 from Lyon.

With new manager Antonio Conte arriving, Spurs are willing to listen to offers for the Frenchman, though Barca are still in financial trouble so would only be able to make a loan bid.

13.03 GMT: Villarreal manager Unai Emery has released a statement saying he has decided to stay at the club after talking with president Fernando Roig on Tuesday night.

Former Arsenal boss Emery had been linked with the vacant Newcastle job.

"Through a lot of noise that there was yesterday in another country, inside the club there was transparency and loyalty with the Roig family and my squad. That is most important to me," he wrote on social media.

"Villarreal is my home and I am committed 100%. Honestly, I am grateful for the interest of a big club, but I am even more grateful to be here, and I communicated to Fernando Roig my decision that I want to continue to form part of this project through the commitment that I perceive of the club and my players, and that is mutual and reciprocated.

"I want to thank the fans for the help they have always shown. On Sunday, we have a very important game and I hope we can all achieve the win together. I will see you at Estadio de la Ceramica. Thank you, Groguets! Endavant!"

12.27 GMT: Could a swap between Inter Milan's Christian Eriksen and Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana work out? Tuttosport suggests that it's an option.

Onana is set to leave on a free transfer in the summer and has been linked with Inter, while midfielder Eriksen is not permitted to play in Italy as a result of the cardiac arrest he suffered at Euro 2020 and could return to his first club Ajax.

The Denmark international had a cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) device implanted -- a type of pacemaker which can prevent fatal cardiac arrests by discharging a jolt to restore a regular heart rhythm -- but due to Serie A rules he will not be allowed to play in Italy unless the ICD device is removed.

As a result, Eriksen could be allowed to depart for free in January, while Ajax may also allow Onana to leave early.

12.05 GMT: Bad news for Manchester United forward Tahith Chong.

11.44 BST: Manchester United will scout Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni in their game with PSV in the Europa League on Thursday, says Football Insider.

Tchouameni, 21, has attracted the interest of Juventus, Barcelona, Chelsea and plenty of other top sides. Monaco are reported to want around €40m to let him go.

11.09 GMT: Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer compared new signing Cristiano Ronaldo to Chicago Bulls and NBA legend Michael Jordan.

10.34 GMT: Jose Mourinho wants Real Madrid defender Nacho Fernandez to join him at Roma, says Gazzetta dello Sport.

The manager, who took charge of the Serie A club this summer, reportedly wants to bring in two midfielders, a full-back, a centre-back and a forward in the January transfer window after a challenging start to the season with one win in their last five games and an embarrassing 6-1 defeat to Norway's Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Conference League.

Mourinho coached Nacho -- who has been left out by Carlo Ancelotti in recent weeks, with David Alaba and Eder Militao favoured ahead of him -- at Madrid from 2010 to 2013.

10.08 GMT: A Barcelona delegation has travelled to Qatar to finalise an agreement for Al Sadd coach Xavi Hernandez to take over at Camp Nou, sources have confirmed to ESPN's Sam Marsden and Moises Llorens.

Vice-president Rafa Yuste and director of football Mateu Alemany flew to Doha after Tuesday's 1-0 Champions League win over Dynamo Kiev, with sources explaining that Barca hope to announce Xavi as Ronald Koeman's successor before the end of the week.

Yuste and Alemany will take in Al Sadd's top-of-the-table clash against Al-Duhail on Wednesday before sitting down with the Qatari club to discuss bringing the former Barca midfielder back to LaLiga.

Negotiations with Xavi over personal terms are already advanced but, as he has two years to run on his contract with Al Sadd, the two clubs still need to reach an agreement.

Xavi, 41, will be tasked with breathing life into a struggling Barcelona side. They're winless in three league games and sit ninth in the table, although Tuesday's result in Kiev means they can book their place in the round of 16 of the Champions League with a win against Benfica on Nov. 23.

09.49 GMT: Villarreal are close to tying down teenage winger Yeremy Pino to a new, long-term contract to fend off interest from Real Madrid, Diario AS reports.

Pino, 19, has become a key member of Unai Emery's team over the last year, and made his first senior international appearances in Spain's Nations League games with Italy and France.

Last month he made the 20-player shortlist for Tuttosport's 2021 Golden Boy award for the best European player under the age of 21.

AS claims that Real Madrid "have [Pino] on their agenda and have been following him very closely for some time" but Villarreal and the player have now agreed terms on a new deal until 2027 with an €80m release clause, which could be made official during the next international break.

08.53 GMT: Tottenham Hotspur are one of several Premier League club monitoring the contract situation of West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, Sky reports.

England international Johnstone, 28, is out of contract at The Hawthorns in the summer, and West Brom plan to step up contract talks in the new year.

"From January we will start to go more intensively in the discussion but at the moment we're all focused on the pitch, on the performances," West Brom manager Valerien Ismael said. "We know what we have to do to give ourselves a good position for the negotiation with him.

"It's a patient game now, like a chess game. He wants to see. For sure, we want to extend and, at the minute, I'm not worried, it's a normal process."

Johnstone, who has won three caps for England, has helped West Brom to third in the Championship this season ahead of Wednesday's match against Hull City.

08.00 GMT: Villarreal manager Unai Emery has confirmed Newcastle United are interested in appointing him as their new coach but says the Premier League side have not yet made an official offer.

Emery, 49, admitted Newcastle's interest after Villarreal's 2-0 Champions League win over Young Boys on Tuesday, just hours after multiple reports claiming that he was set to replace Steve Bruce at St. James' Park.

"[Newcastle] have shown an interest but there's no offer," Emery told reporters. "If there was, it would have to be via the club. I am focused on Villarreal and preparing for Sunday's game against Getafe."

He refused to shut the door on a return to England when asked if he would consider an offer to move to Newcastle if there was an agreement between the two clubs.

"In that hypothesis, I would speak with [president] Fernando Roig," he added. "I would show respect to the squad and the club. I am not closing or opening doors. I have not said no to the interest."

However, Spanish journalist Guillem Balague told the BBC later on Tuesday that former Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal boss Emery will turn down to opportunity to go to St James' Park should Newcastle make an offer.

PAPER GOSSIP (by Adam Brown)

- Manchester United's Paul Pogba would prefer to return to Juventus despite interest from both Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. The 28-year-old midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and, with no movement regarding fresh terms with United, it looks as though Juve have been given the green light to begin talks with their former star.

- Ousmane Dembele could be set for a U-Turn on his proposed move away from Barcelona, writes Sport. It is reported that the 24-year-old winger wants to stay at Camp Nou, and has informed his agents to get his contract situation resolved. And after being excluded from first-team activities over stalling on a new deal, Dembele made his return in Barca's 1-0 Champions League win over Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday.

- Fulham star Fabio Carvalho has turned down his latest contract offer amid interest from Real Madrid. That's according to the Sun, which writes that the 19-year-old attacker received a "massive" offer, and is now unlikely to receive another one with his deal up at the end of the season. Carvalho has featured six times this season, directly contributing to four goals in the Championship.

- Nicolo Schira reports that Internazionale plan to get Marcelo Brozovic's contract resolved by Christmas, with the club planning to offer him a four-year extension until 2025 to dissuade interest from clubs around Europe. The 28-year-old midfielder's deal runs out at the end of the season, and he is one of the players who has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur after the appointment of Antonio Conte.

- The Telegraph has revealed that Wolverhampton Wanderers are looking to sign Hwang Hee-Chan on a permanent deal. The 25-year-old forward is currently on loan from RB Leipzig, but has settled in quickly at Molineux, with four goals to his name in the Premier League. It is reported that a fee of £14m will be required to secure his services on a permanent basis.

- Empoli's Nedim Bajrami is attracting interest from the Bundesliga, according to Nicolo Schira, with clubs considering a potential transfer approach next season. The 22-year-old has earned four caps for Albania and he has been in impressive form this season, contributing to four goals in 10 appearances, including a standout performance and when Empoli defeated Juventus 1-0 back in August.
