Georgia Bulldogs QB JT Daniels does not play with lat injury

College Football, Georgia Bulldogs, Arkansas Razorbacks

Georgia quarterback JT Daniels, who is dealing with a lat injury, did not play in Saturday's 37-0 blowout victory over No. 8 Arkansas.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart made the move to backup Stetson Bennett after watching Daniels in pre-game warmups. It was Bennett's second start of the season for the No. 2 Bulldogs.

"JT has a lat issue that's bothering him, so looking forward to seeing Stetson go play," Smart told ESPN's Holly Rowe prior to kickoff in Athens, Georgia. "He's got to cut it loose and go."

Bennett didn't have to, as the Bulldogs rolled up 273 rushing yards to go with their dominant defense. Bennett finished 7 of 11 for 79 yards and rushed for 16 yards on three carries.

The latissimus dorsi, commonly known as lats, is the V-shaped muscle that connects the arms to the vertebrae column.

Daniels ranks eighth in the FBS in Total QBR (87.6) through four games. Bennett started earlier this season against UAB and also saw action last week against Vanderbilt.

"[Bennett] has a little more mobility," Smart said. "We hope we could use that. And we've got to get JT healthy."

Razorbacks quarterback KJ Jefferson wound up playing after being deemed a game-time decision with a posterior cruciate ligament sprain in his left knee.

Jefferson was limited in practice this week after tweaking the knee in last week's victory against Texas A&M. He was 8 of 13 for 65 yards in Saturday's loss, getting sacked three times.

He entered the game ranked 14th in FBS in passing efficiency (170.1) and second with an average of 10.8 yards per completion.

ESPN's Chris Low and Harry Lyles contributed to this report.
