Cowboys' Tony Pollard breaks free for 58-yard touchdown run

NEW ORLEANS -- The Dallas Cowboys' run game finally found some life thanks to Tony Pollard.

The speedy running back took a pitch to the left from Dak Prescott and ran 58 yards for a touchdown to give the Cowboys a 20-10 lead in the third quarter.

Before that? The best run of the game was a 33-yard lateral to wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.

The Cowboys stubbornly kept running up the middle with no success against New Orleans' stout run defense. Before the long run, Ezekiel Elliott had 14 yards on seven carries and Pollard had 6 yards on four carries.

Offensive coordinator Kellen Moore finally called for a wide run and Pollard delivered. He had some help with wide receivers Malik Turner and Noah Brown throwing key blocks and center Tyler Biadasz springing him down the sideline where he outran safety Marcus Williams to the goal line.

It was the longest run of Pollard's career, a week after he had a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The last time a Cowboys' running back had such a long run: Alfred Morris had a 70-yarder on Oct. 1, 2017 against the Los Angeles Rams.
