OFFICIAL HOST BIO: After spending his formative years staring out the windows of his 3A school in Oskaloosa, Kan., wondering what might exist down the highway past the local Co-op, Kitchen took off for greener pastures, or at least red clay. He spent a year playing basketball at NAIA Phillips University in Enid, Okla., well, sitting the bench at least, for the Haymakers, who spent some time ranked No. 1 in the nation during the 1997-98 season. From there, he made his way back to Kansas, bouncing from school to school and landing finally at Washburn U. in Topeka, where he found out one actually can get paid (a little) to cover sports.

A three-year stint as PR manager for the Sports Car Club of America gave him a great inside look at the world of motorsports first with the ProRally series (including X-games star Travis Pastrana's rookie season as a rally driver), then with the SCCA SPEED World Challenge series, which ran alongside NASCAR, Champ Car, IRL (yes, he saw Danica, yes, she's hot) and other prominent series. Then, a K-State friend hooked Kitchen into a phone call that led to a weekend, part-time opening with Union Broadcasting and the rest is history. Now into few years since his hire, Kitchen covers K-State, writes columns for the 810whb.com Web site, co-hosts 810 WHB Sports Center on occasion and produces KAOS (Kenny and Ozone show) on Hot Talk 1510 KCTE during the week.
