  • Mizzou football fans need to think before they complain about being “slighted” by the Insight Bowl. The “Inslight” Bowl is in Tempe, Arizona, a place where Mizzou doesn't recruit and it’s going to be televised on the NFL Network against a 6-6 Minnesota team that played in this same bowl last season. The Texas Bowl is in Houston, Texas, a place where Mizzou does recruit and it’s televised on ESPN against what will be a nine win Navy team that beat Notre Dame and almost beat Ohio St. Also, Mizzou’s defense is good against the run and Navy runs the triple option. Their leading receiver has nine catches, so Navy is ill equipped to take advantage of Mizzou’s biggest weakness – their pass defense. Aldon Smith and Sean Weatherspoon versus Navy's option offense provides an intriguing match-up and it will be nice to see ‘Spoon play his final game as a Tiger about an hour from where he grew up. And, don’t forget, Texas kids can afford to make the trip on their own dime and Mizzou coaches can host various functions for Texas high school coaches throughout game week, enabling the Tiger staff to continue to establish their Texas pipeline. Finally, which game do you think more people will watch? Iowa St vs. Minnesota on NFL Network or Mizzou vs. Navy on ESPN? No contest....Missouri is better off in the Texas Bowl.

  • It looks like the Floyd Mayweather – Manny Pacquiao fight is all but a done deal. The fight should take place on March 13 in either Las Vegas or Dallas. The fighters have agreed to a 50/50 split of the gigantic purse the bout will generate and the fight will be contested at the true welterweight limit of 147 pounds. Rumors have both fighters earning a guarantee of $25 million, which could rise to between $37 and $45 million based on projected PPV buys. The official press conference to announce the fight would take place in January in New York. Let’s go!
